The CSIR ICC recently participated in the Amazing Public Transport Race, hosted by the Gautrain Management Agency, as one of the official activation stops along the race route.
The initiative brought together participants from business, government, media and the public in an interactive race experience, designed to promote the use of public transport and highlight the importance of integrated, sustainable mobility solutions across Gauteng.
As part of the race, contestants navigated various destinations using public transport systems including the Gautrain and other related transport networks. The CSIR ICC activation highlighted the venue’s accessibility and proximity to the Gautrain stop located near the centre’s entrance, reinforcing its position as a convenient destination for conferences, exhibitions and events.
Participants arriving at CSIR ICC completed an interactive social media activation by capturing and sharing content from the venue, while engaging with race-related hashtags. The activation contributed to increased digital engagement, brand visibility and audience reach for the CSIR ICC.
The participation also aligned with the CSIR ICC’s environmental and sustainability commitments by encouraging the use of public transport as a means of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, traffic congestion and air pollution. Gautrain continues to play an important role in supporting integrated public transport and sustainable mobility within Gauteng.
