The CSIR International Convention Centre (CSIR ICC) continues to set in motion programs to enhance students’ knowledge and offers necessary skills, experience and exposure programs to increase students’ chances of employment.

Over and above its regular in-service trainee program and experiential visits from relevant colleges, the ICC also now accommodates visits by the Capsicum College students to get an exhilarating experience of the daily activities of the food production industry they aspire to be part of. The students are given a tour of the ICC’s bustling kitchens and get the privilege to interact with the chefs as part of the program.

Continuing with its knowledge transfer program, the CSIR ICC also recently initiated collaboration between the Gautrain Management Agency and the CSIR who then co-hosted a group of schoolchildren, who have demonstrated high impact leadership in their academic and private lives, are excelling academically, and have a mathematics and science background with an interest in Science, Technology and Engineering as part of the Gautrain Leadership Train program, at the CSIR ICC for a day of interaction with professionals from these fields.

“It is vital for us to actively participate and support initiatives of capacity development. As Franklin D. Roosevalt said, “We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future “, explains Refilwe Nchebisang, CSIR ICC Marketing Coordinator.
