CSIR ICC the first to offer Conference video streaming to its clients 27 October 2010 The CSIR International Convention Centre (ICC) has recently introduced video streaming of event proceedings as a standard product offering. The decision to actively promote this service comes after improvements to software and hardware technology and the ICT infrastructure supporting the facilities made the service more viable and stable than it has been in the past. "Internet streaming is a very cost effective and efficient way to get event proceedings out to a much broader audience than those present at the venue. Holistically it is cheaper than video conferencing as no second venue with equipment needs to be arranged; delegates not at the venue simply watch the proceedings on their desktops or laptops from the comfort of any location in the world." says Bronwen Cadle, Marketing & Sales Manager of the CSIR ICC. "Internet streaming does not require any proprietary software installation - all content can simply be viewed via a standard web browser and Adobe® Flash Player. This means that anyone, anywhere, can access a live audio, video and data stream from any computer with an internet connection. The system also makes provision for questions from remote viewers by means of a comment/question tab located below the video and data stream. The conference chairman or event MC will then receive the comments in real time and relay them. Privacy is ensured through password access. An added feature with no additional cost is that the footage will be archived onto the ICC's server for a period of one year enabling clients to review and even copy the their footage to disc" explained, Wesley Middleton, CSIR ICC Technical Services Manager.
